Emily McGrew was born in 1985 in Nashville, Tennessee. She received her BFA in Painting from Washington University in Saint Louis in 2007 and her MFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Houston in 2012.

“I translate a striking view into two dimensions in my drawings and paintings. In my current acrylic series I explore the juxtaposition of industrial elements and suburban elements in the landscape. Additionally, in my drawing series the immediacy of the ink, graphite and marker mediums allows me to experiment in a wide range of styles, and I find gratification in using bold color in my marker drawings.”
